The Colchester project involved the transformation of a vacant office building within the conservation area of Colchester, Essex. While not listed, the building's facade, featuring large iron windows and traditional brickwork, was deemed architecturally significant by the council and was therefore preserved.

The project aimed to repair, enhance, and repurpose the existing structure, aligned with the firm's sustainability values of prioritizing building refurbishment over demolition. Three one-bedroom apartments were created, each featuring a roof terrace as an amenity space.

The planning process was successfully navigated, collaborating with various consultants including structural engineers, energy modellers, and the construction manager. Effective communication with the council ensured planning permission. This apartment conversion exemplifies a sustainable approach to urban development, demonstrating the successful transformation of an existing building while complying with building regulations and national space standards.
